Budgeting to a lot of us has a negative meaning. We associate Budgeting with being stingy, cheap, boring, old, lame, obsessed, nagging, controlling, and many other terms we don’t want to be associated with. This is true I felt that way until I educated myself and understood the real meaning of budgeting.Budgeting as defined by http://www.dictionary.com is an itemized summary of expected income and expenditure. In lame mans term what you make minus what you plan to spend.
Budgeting 101
Don’t get hung up on the forms you have to use, applications, books, websites, or apps!
Grab a pen or pencil and start writing!
Perfect time to use all those cute pens and paper you like to buy =)
If you love Target like I do you have some on hand and if you don’t grab what you have!
First thing you need to know when budgeting and the hardest is how much you spend every month and what you bring home.
Grab a pen or pencil and start writing!
How much income do you make?
I keep it simple how much do you bring home.
The amount that gets direct deposit into your account.
The amount that you get a check for on payday.
All the money that you have access to on a monthly basis.
The money you make after taxes and insurance.
The money after all your deductions.
I repeat this is not what you make a year but what you bring home after all your deductions.
This is what gets deposited into your account that you have access to!
Many of us mistake what we get paid a year with what we bring home. You have to be clear on this number in order for your budget to work.
You do this for you if your single and don’t share finances.
If you have a husband or partner you live with you need to have the amount of money they make to add to your budget.
This is a vital and important step in the budgeting process.
You add yours if your alone and if you have a partner add yours and theirs together and come up with line one Income.
The hardest step in Budgeting is going through your bills and making a list of what you spend monthly.

Go through your credit cards.
Go through your mail
Go through your email
Go through your PayPal
Go through your Bank Statements
You need to be clear on this! You need to see what and where your money goes every month.
Once you get a clear picture of this you can begin to budget.
This is the most difficult step and the most eye opening.
The income is suppose to be higher than the outcome if you find that it is not don’t worry you can fix it!
